Operations Manager

Our NH Seacoast area advanced manufacturing client, recently transitioning from an R&D facility to full production, seeks an Operations Manager. This manufacturing professional will have day to day responsibility for managing the company’s high technology materials manufacturing operations. Working in a climate-controlled environment the Operations Manager will be responsible for the safety, operational excellence of the workforce, and goals of the business unit.

The Operations Manager will:

Manage the planning, labor allocation and manufacturing across all value streams
Drive continuous improvement
Serve as leader, coach and mentor for all employees in the business unit
Work with EHS and HR to instill culture of safety first among employees
Identify and implement process improvement

BS Degree
5+ years of relevant operations management experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment e.g., automotive, medical, defense, aerospace, etc.
Lean manufacturing experience and knowledge of Lean tools
Experience going from prototype/R&D environment to full production environment
Proven problem solving and process improvement experience
Salary – up to $120K+bonus and generous corporate benefits

Global manufacturer of inkjet colorants has this immediate need!
This is a Senior level role comprising both strategic and tactical components of developing, sustaining and improving materials supply for the InkJet business. It requires both solid technical acumen and business knowledge to enable the sustainment and growth of a rapidly expanding product line. This individual will be a key component of the Site Leadership Team and will drive success in the material sourcing function to enable industry leadership in the Inkjet market.

Leads the development/execution of the sourcing strategy. Positions Company’s material supply in the best possible cost, quality and service terms as a competitive advantage.
Facilitates strategic sourcing and procurement of materials to meet business needs.
With other functions, ensure supply chain delivery consistent with agreements/business needs.
Key point of contact in relationship with critical suppliers. Will communicate the needs of the business in terms of supply expectations, quality and cost and monitor performance indicators. Will be the point of contact for the Supplier Change Horizon plan.
Will drive second source strategy and lead execution for key materials as part of New Product Introduction and/or issues with commercially established products.
Identify materials risk and mitigation strategies as part of the Sales and Operations Planning process.
Work with New Product Introduction to source scalable material supply to support the Operations plan. May include involvement with tolling.
Will work with other functions to ensure that Supplier contracts are negotiated to meet the business needs and objectives.
Monitor the regulatory status of raw materials and finished goods worldwide. Maintain Reach inventory status and monitor US EPA status.
May assist with other task and projects such as tracking regulated volumes, establishing and maintaining Approved Supplier Lists, scheduling quarterly business reviews, assist in technical root cause/corrective action teams, etc.
Work could involve international sourcing and up to 25% travel.

Knowledge of supply chain dynamics including developing, sustaining and improving material supply.
Ability to transition quickly and smoothly between strategic thinking and short term tactical support.
Experience working in or with New Product Introduction/R&D.
Strong project management and leadership skills. Effective negotiation and communication skills.
BS degree, preferably in Science or Engineering, and 6-10 years of technical experience in a procurement/supply chain role in the chemical industry.
MRP/ERP proficiency. Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 25%.

Utilizing a production-based sense of urgency, the focus of this supply chain professional will be concentrated on production scheduling instead of purchasing.


Manage his/her production areas matching capacity with demand and building a production plan for a job shop manufacturing operation
Ensure that daily ERP requirements are met
Responsible for issuing and managing orders to production, maximizing the use of material, and run and track ERP daily to ensure customer demand is accounted for
Purchase mechanical, plastic, electrical, chemical or other parts/components as needed based on the demand cycle in ERP
Actively negotiate better terms, pricing and delivery terms with vendors
Take active role in upgrading supplier quality by engaging with vendors, engineering, and quality
Perform supplier audits and visits when needed

5+ years of experience electromechanical manufacturing-based planning and purchasing
Effective working knowledge of ERP

Senior Director of Operations

Our client has the enviable position of being in the right place at the right time to dominate a rapidly growing market. A premier player within their industry, with all the right connections, this well established manufacturer has seen a fourfold growth rate in the past 4 years and will continue to expand aggressively, hitting 65 million in 3-5 years.

This operations executive will oversee planning, production, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, warehousing and quality with a current full staff of 25. The focus will be on continuing to build the overall operations infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for its production equipment with in an environment requiring customizing and calibrating the equipment for its specific customer application.

This individual will be goal focused and take the actions necessary to drive on time delivery, product quality, lean and cost reductions. Responsibilities include:

· Oversee production planning, capacity planning, scheduling, prioritization, and tracking/monitoring of production activities.
· Monitor available capacity, inventory, tracking progress of production and performance against customer expectations for lead time and on time delivery.
· Drive effective use of the current ERP system and take the lead role in an upcoming ERP system conversion.
· Streamline NPI and product standardization engineering and test process.

Minimal credentials to qualify:

Must have a proven track record of driving measurable improvements in productivity and quality in machining operations.
History of directly managing a significant size machine shop
Significant first-hand prior experience with machining, CNC programming, fixturing and tooling gained while in a similar machining leadership role.
Proficient in the use of MasterCam, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP.
ISO 9001.
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card status is required.
